Library Electronic Discussion Lists

The Mid-Hudson Library System has established various electronic discussion lists (listservs) to facilitate communication and input among member libraries. In addition, there are other library-related listservs which support those in the library profession.

MHLS Listservs

MHLS Main listserv The main electronic communication forum for MHLS member library directors, staff, trustees, and members of other regional library organizations to raise issues of common concern, learn about breaking MHLS news, promote training opportunities, and receive information important to regional participation. MHLS Millennium listserv Each library must have at least one staff person subscribed to this list. Subscription is encouraged for those in member libraries working with circulation, cataloging (data entry), acquisitions, regional loan of materials, Statistics, Create Lists, Web management Reports, lost books and all other issues related to circulation of materials among libraries. Millennium Alerts will be posted to this list, so at least one person at each library should be checking this list. MHLS Friends & Fundraising listserv This list is devoted to helping library staff, trustees and Friends of member libraries learn about fundraising trends, ideas and opportunities. This list is also a great place to ask your questions and connect with others in the area. View or search the list archives	MHLS Advocacy Network Mid-Hudson Library System Advocacy Network has been created to mobilize knowledgeable library supporters to communicate in a timely manner to legislators. We hope to get the attention of our legislators drawn to important library legislation. Subscribers will receive 2-3 action emails per year asking for you to contact your legislators at crucial decision-making junctures. You will also receive information about current funding and budget issues, legislation affecting libraries, and tips and tools for communicating with legislators.
