2. When You've Identified a Potential Area for Partnership

Hi, I'm _____________, Director of the ___________ Library. I read in the newspaper today that your organization is _________________________. I wanted to talk to you about a few ways the library might directly support your efforts.

{Listen to what they say and respond accordingly.}

3. A Specific Proposal

Hi, I'm _____________ from the _________ Library. I wanted to reach out to you because I believe we have several strong ideas for ___________ (Ex. content in your paper.) I would really like to meet with you for 20 minutes or so to explore this further and find out how our ideas might be honed to meet the needs and goals of your ___________ (paper, club, firehouse etc.)

{Listen to what they say and respond accordingly.}

Keep in Mind

  • Make notes before calling. This will help you be clear and concise once you get the person on the phone.
  • Most people are nice. Once in a while you will get a rude or uninterested person, but most people will be courteous and professional.
