Decide your overall marketing and public relations plan.
List the marketing & PR activities you will do in support of your
library’s vote.
Select a time frame for these activities. Following is an example to get
you started. Add and delete to include your library’s marketing and PR activities
and the appropriate timeframe.

Begin holding monthly voter registration drives run by the
Friends.

Enlist the help of three respected individuals in the
community who will support the initiative. Have them promote the library
publicly and socially throughout the campaign.

Offer presentations to targeted community groups showing
materials of interest available through the library.

Strategically issue Letters to the Editor emphasizing the
value of the library and highlighting the needs of the library.

Host a program series of identified interest to selected
target groups.
July & August
Have Friends make phone calls to library supporters and
target groups to gauge their support.

Issue press releases highlighting the value of the library
and its significance to patrons.
July - September
Host a summertime barbecue at the library. Offer free
hotdogs, hamburgers, and ice cream to the community.
August
Develop Frequently Asked Question Guide surrounding the
vote.

Arrange direct mailing of postcards with targeted
information to identified supporters.
September
Create Vote Date Reminder bookmarks. [Distribute bookmarks
during the week before the vote.]

Organize a Friend-to-Friend Campaign among library
trustees, Friends, and strong supporters.

Mail bandwagon brochure that shows breath of community
support to supporters.
